Basic Central Vacuum Hose – Also known as a straight suction hose, these hoses are designed to fit 99.9% of wall inlets. The basic central vacuum hose is the most basic hose in the industry. It can only be used with non-electric powerheads and accessories. A basic hose simply is inserted into the wall inlet and the metal band at the end of the hose completes the low voltage circuit turning the central vacuum system on. Basic hoses do not have a switch that controls the central vacuum system. The unit turns on and off when the basic hoses are inserted or removed from the wall inlet.
Low Voltage Hose – A low voltage hose is a central vacuum hose that has a series of low voltage wiring allowing control of the central vacuum system. When the low voltage hose is inserted into the wall inlet a metal band at the end of the hose will complete the circuit for a low voltage connection. Low voltage hoses come equipped with a two-position switch conveniently located on the handle of the hose. This switch allows you to turn the central vacuum unit on and off when needed. These hoses are usually designed with a 360° swivel handle and are crushproof.
Electric Hoses – These hoses are designed with both low voltage and high voltage wires that are integrated throughout the hose. The low voltage conducts a signal from the hose to the central vacuum system turning the central vacuum on. The high voltage is supplied to the hose either by a pigtail cord or a direct connect hose end. This provides electricity to electric powerheads and other central vacuum accessories. Electric central vacuum hoses come equipped with a three-way switch located on the handle giving you complete control of the central vacuum unit and the powerhead.
