Filtex carved it's way into the central vacuum market mainly because of its efficient and reliable motors. Today, Filtex central vacuum power units are no longer in production.
In the late 80s, Filtex was bought by M&S (Music and Sound) which was later acquired in the early 90s by Chamberlain Industries. In 2005, Linear LLC bought the company and is now known as Nortek. They still manufacture central vacuum power units for the Broan-NuTone brand, however the Filtex brand is no longer in production.
