IF I WANTED TO CHANGE FROM A NUTONE CENTRAL VACUUM TO A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER, WOULD I NEED TO CHANGE ANY PIPING, INLETS OR MY CLEANING ATTACHMENTS?
The answer is absolutely No! The pipes, fittings, and inlets are universal to any central vacuum. Which means you can install any central vacuum manufacturer’s unit. 100% of manufacturers’ central vacuums pipes, fittings, and inlets are all compatible with each other. This allows a very fast and easy installation -of any new central vacuum.
IF I AM REPLACING MY EXISTING NUTONE WITH A NEWER MODLE NUTONE CAN I REUSE THE EXISTING MOUNTING BRACKET/WALL MOUNT
No, when replacing a central vacuum it is a must to use that unit’s wall mount/ mounting bracket. Every central vacuum unit has its own mounting brackets including Nutone.
DO THE MOST RECENT NUTONE CENTRAL VACUUMS COMPARE TO THE OLDER MODELS? ARE THEY AS GOOD AS MY OLD NUTONE WAS?
We as central vacuum experts; based on the fact that we are the leaders of the central vacuum market for the last 42 years, consider the original Nutone systems to be among the best; not so for the newer lineup. There are several different quality differences between the old and the new.
WILL A NEW NUTONE LAST AS LONG AS MY OLD NUTONE?
This is uncertain. The older Nutone central vacuums were manufactured and built in America, with American made AMETEK Lamb motors. Consumers, who have had an older Nutone, were happy as these units typically lasted between 25 and 30 years. Those motors were built with durability and quality in mind and certainly longevity. The newer Nutone models in our opinion are lacking the quality the older models had.

FACT -The components that are in a NUTONE central vacuum are no longer manufactured and built in America – NUTONE’S are now equipped with China made motors, and relays. In fact, 100% of all NUTONE motors today are not made in America any longer. In our humble opinion that is very unfortunate.
DOES NUTONE OFFER A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THEIR CENTRAL VACUUMS?
No, Nutone no longer offers a Lifetime Warranty on their central vacuum systems like they did years ago. All Nutone Vacuums come with only a limited warranty on their new product line.
DO THE NEW MODELS PERFORM BETTER THAN THE OLDER NUTONE CENTRAL VACUUMS?
This is up for debate. Nutone came out with a series of vacuums about thirteen years ago with what they called the VX series. With this product line and still currently with their PURE POWER series they went overseas to China; like a lot of the industry, to possibly cut cost; for the manufacturing of their motors, relay, and components. Does it perform better? Through our customer feedback, we are finding that the vacuums are quieter but people are not finding any difference in suction power.
HOW DURABLE ARE THE NEW NUTONES?
Although the prices nowadays have come down dramatically due to reduced manufacturing cost; as experts in this industry we are just not sure as of yet. Nutone has eliminated the VX series line due to multiple quality issues with all their units. Nutone has now come out with the PURE POWER line which still uses motors, relays, and components manufactured in China. Only time will tell.
IF I CHANGE FROM NUTONE, WILL I HAVE TO REPLACE MY CLEANING ATTACHMENTS?
No, absolutely not. The attachments you currently own are universal to your already installed wall inlets and will fit any central vacuum manufacturer you choose as a replacement option. Attachments are not exclusive to one particular manufacturer as they are all universal with any central vacuum system and will work with any brand.
MY OLD NUTONE WAS ALL METAL. ARE THE NEW ONES?
No, they are not. Although the new units resemble the older style Nutones’ these newer models are a metal /plastic design. Marketed to resemble the older central vacuums these units have a metal painted top with an all plastic dirt container. Also, the latches that secure and seal the dirt container are no longer heavy duty metal latches they are now plastic. This can cause concern for consumers creating more wear and tear damages on the latches of the canister when emptying the debris.
WHY ARE THE NEW NUTONES CENTRAL VACUUMS SO INEXPENSIVE IN PRICE?
They have become more affordable; however, as experts, we believe the quality has suffered. The reduced prices are a direct result of overseas manufactured materials and costs.
SHOULD I STAY WITH NUTONE?
You don’t have to necessarily stay with the same manufacturer, the choice is yours. There are many comparable brands to choose from and many other manufacturers offer longer extended warranties than what Nutone currently offers.
WHY DO WE STILL CARRY THE NUTONE CENTRAL VACUUM BRAND?
Nutone has always been a popular name in the industry and, due to its affordability; a lot of builders choose NuTone. Also because of Nutone’s popularity in the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s we provide many parts, bags, and accessories for the customers who currently have a Nutone central vacuum installed. We also are an authorized warranty station for Nutone central vacuums.

In our opinion, Nutone at one time was one of the best well-known manufacturer from the early 70s throughout the mid-90’s. In the later years, the Nutone central vacuum company did away with the American made all metal units such as the CV350, CV352, CV 353, CV400, CV450, CV750, CV850, CV653, CV570 and so on. They then produced an all plastic series with electrical components from China knowns as VX series which was quickly retired due to quality issues and had been discontinued. The quality has visibly changed with the newer Nutone product line over the years and although we still represent their brand as a dealer and retailer we advise to research and compare all manufactures before making a purchase.

We believe in educating our customers via detailed information and research throughout our website. A well-informed consumer can make the proper selection of what central vacuum best fits their needs.
